The plan going out today was to run 13.1 at marathon pace then back it off and do another 4 or 5. I made the first part but struggled with the hamstring the last 4 miles. I need this taper time to get this hamstring back to 100%.

  1. 8:30  142
  2. 7:59  143
  3. 7:58  142
  4. 7:49  146
  5. 7:58  147
  6. 7:49  149
  7. 7:44  149
  8. 7:51  149
  9. 7:55  151
  10. 7:54  151
  11. 7:55  151
  12. 7:59  159
  13. 7:58  156
  14. .1 @ 7:59

143:55 7:56 avg pace  148 avg HR  48 degrees at the start 70 at the finish sunny with no wind

The 7:56 is right on target. That'd give me a 3:28 and a BQ by 2 minutes. I wanted this to be a confidence builder but I'm a little worried about the hamstring and also about my conditioning. I would feel a lot better if my HR would have been down to about the 140 range. From the look of the extended forecast todays temps were right where they'll be in Champaign marathon day.

Let's be careful out there, you have put in the training, now is the "taper time" . We already know you'll "BQ" , so don't go and blow all that great pre-training on one run...get that hammie rehabbed and and get ready to run Champain !!
