5 mile morning run 85 degrees 90+ % humidity but partly cloudy. This was my longest run in a while and things felt pretty good. I was happy with the outcome except the fact that my avg. HR was high. I'm hoping it was the heat and not my fitness level that drove it high.

  1. .25 warm up
  2. 9:09
  3. 9:00
  4. 8:32
  5. 8:24
  6. .5 @8:20
  7. .25 cool down

Avg. HR 158 Not very fast but my goal was to run pain free and to be consistant.

Nice run in that heat. Glad to see you building back up.

Nice run! I've been hoping that my high HR is due to heat, etc. etc. but I know better...It's very poor fitness (and old age) for me. :-(

Thanks Guys, Jim the build-up is going but very slowly.

IJR I trained this past winter with the HR monitor with the goal of finding out what the heat does to my HR. Now I'm not sure because of my lack of running. What has been your experience with the heat and your HR?

HBR,

I have all kinds of data on HR & Temp but also believe the Dew Point is more of a factor than Temperature. Look at the two runs below, I was in relativly the same condition on both runs. Quite a difference....
