I ran this race a couple years ago and made a wrong turn and ended up off course. This year I tried to keep the leaders in sight so I didn't make the same mistake twice. I was pretty happy with my time the splits were all within a couple seconds of each other with the last mile a little faster. After the first half mile I found myself in 8th place and that's were I ended up. All the guys in front of me were high school cross country runners except one. I really thought they'd start to fade after the first mile but they were rock soild and kept an even steady pace the whole race. Another good thing about this race is it starts at 7:00. They get the awards out quickly and I was back home before 9:00 so it doesn't take up half a day.

Good race, ran a similar time myself on the same day in a different state. I'll look to read your reports as I think we have the same mindset: been running for a while, body not what it used to be but can still be strong, like to eat more immature runners for dinner. :-)

Hey Glory in the Long Run you got that right when you said the body wasn't what it use to be but my mind still sees it that way and wants it to do the things it use to do. I think I got lucky on this July day I was feeling good and the weather was nice and cool for this time of year so I let it go to see what this "OLD" body could do.

The real question is how sore were you afterward? Could you do it again the next week or the next day? That's the difference between 20 and 40.

Glory in the long Run I think it goes something like this; I'm not as good as I once was but I'm good once that I ever was....That being said I really wasn't sore but all the stars or something will have to line up for me to run that time again honestly on a good day I might slip down below 19 but that's about it for me.
